چکیده

The capacity of local area networks (LAN) can be increased substantially by amalgamating different access techniques. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDILI) arid code division multiple access (CDMA) can both offer an asynchronous mode of communication and can be integrated into a hybrid system. Here, the characteristics of one particular approach to achieving a hybrid system, analogous to hybrid systems used in electrical CDMA are examined. An optical CDMA concept using wavelength hopping and time spreading is described employing prime sequences for both the hopping and the spreading pattern (prime-hop sequences), and proofs are given that the autocorrelation function has zero side lobes and that the crosscorrelation function is at most 1. In such systems, the number of possible stations is greatly increased as is the number of simultaneous users. Code generation and correlation are described in detail and networks for efficient code generation are analysed. It is shown 1:hat the system offers increased security levels leading to a very secure transmission. The system is suitable for truly asynchronous highly secure LAN applications.

A Design of a Wavelength-hopping Time-spreading Incoherent Optical Code Division Multiple Access System

We present the architecture and code design for a highly scalable, 2.5 Gb/s per user optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system. The system is scalable to 100 potential and more than 10 simultaneous users, each with a bit error rate (BER) of less than 10. The system architecture uses a fast wavelength-hopping, time-spreading codes. Unlike frequency and phase sensitive coherent OCDMA s...

Performance analysis of multiple interference suppression over asynchronous/synchronous optical code-division multiple-access system based on complementary/prime/shifted coding scheme

A complete complementary/prime/shifted prime (CPS) code family for the optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) system is proposed. Based on the ability of complete complementary (CC) code, the multiple-access interference (MAI) can be suppressed and eliminated via spectral amplitude coding (SAC) OCDMA system under asynchronous/synchronous transmission. By utilizing the shifted prime (SP) ...

Error Analysis for Ultra-Wideband DS- and Hybrid DS/TH-CDMA with Arbitrary Chip-Duty

In this paper, ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple access systems are introduced by using direct-sequence (DS) and hybrid directsequence time-hopping (DS/TH) code division multiple access (CDMA) that use arbitrary chip-duty of the spreading sequences. The bit error probabilities are presented. First of all, the variances of the multiple access interference are developed by investigating the collision...

New Wavelength-Time Codes for High Speed Optical CDMA Networks

Optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) is a promising solution and it provides secure and asynchronous transmission in optical networks. Since high statistical multiplexing gain can be offered even in bursty traffic, OCDMA techniques are very suitable for access networks [1-3]. To reduce the code lengths, traditional one-dimensional time-spreading codes such as optical orthogonal codes (...
